Archive of the 50th (2010) Hungarian Congress - Contains all of the program information about the 2010 Congress.

Mission of the Hungarian Association: The Hungarian Association is a cultural organization sponsoring an annual Congress providing a forum for the discussion of issues impacting Hungarian Americans and offering educational, literary, artistic and informative lectures by members of the North American Hungarian Community. The Hungarian Association supports the publication of an annual book, the Kronika, collecting together presentations given at the Hungarian Congress as well as other articles of interest. It also recognizes members of the Hungarian North American community who either did outstanding volunteer work or deserve recognition for their work as authors, artists or scientists. - The Chronicles of the Hungarian Congress
Krónika – a magyar határokon kívüli és száműzetésben élő magyarság 50
éves krónikája
A XLIX-L Krónikát 2011-ben adjuk ki, amely a 2009-es és 2010-es
Magyar Kongresszusi eseményeit foglalja magában.
Ez lesz az utolsó nyomtatásban kiadott Krónika. A jövőben a Magyar
Társaság honlapján jelenik majd meg.
A Magyar Társaság fél évszázada adja ki a Krónikát könyv formában,
amely a kongresszusi műsort, az elhangzott és beküldött előadások
szövegeit, valamint a Nyugati magyar tudósok, írok, és művészek
előadásait közli.
Ez a különleges értékes könyvsorozat nagyon értékes képet nyújt a
magyar életről a számkivetésben.
A Krónikát 1995-ig 34 egymást követő éven át
Professor dr. Somogyi Ferenc, majd fia Somogyi F. Lél,
szerkesztette.
Sok-sok fényképet és cikket közölt. Ugyancsak közétették a
könyvsorozatban, amelyek általában 288-320 oldalon elegáns píros
kötésben, arany nyomásban jelentek meg.
Az utolsó számokban a formája részben megváltozott, de a minősége
megmaradt.
Eddig csak nyomtatott formában volt kapható a Krónika. Ettől az
évtől kezdve, az egész szorozatót megjelentetjük a honlapunkon,
kezdve a legújabb könyvvel.
Ráadásul, anyagok, amelyek nem voltak kaphatok könyvformában ezután
a honlapunkon elektronikusan jelentetjük meg.
A célunk a legszélesebb körnek eljuttatni a Magyar Kongresszus
előadási anyagát, hogy minél többen hozzáférhessenek világszerte,
könyvkiadási és szállítási korlátok nélkül.
Krónika
books – Documenting a half-century
A combined Krónika
XLIX.-L. (Volume 49-50) is being published in 2011, representing the
Hungarian Congresses held in November 2009 and November 2010. This
will be the last Krónika printed in book form. Future volumes will
not be printed, but the Krónika will be published online with
pictures and articles.
Krónika editions
from some prior years are available directly from the Hungarian
Association for US $20.00 inclusive of shipping in the USA, and for
US $25.00 inclusive of shipping elsewhere. Check for availability.
For half a century,
the Hungarian Association has published an annual book which
encompasses the proceedings of the annual congress of the Hungarian
scientific, literary and artistic association and includes papers
presented by Hungarian scientists, writers and artists in the
Western world. It has also served as the annual yearly journal of
the Árpád Academy, which is the professional honorary society
representing distinguished Hungarians in the Western world. In
addition, the book contains material of interest and relevance to
the purpose of the Hungarian Association and related to the topics
of the Hungarian Congress.
This series uniquely
chronicles the thinking of Hungarians outside of Hungary in this
half century timespan and is thus a truly singular and invaluable
resource for understanding the Hungarian experience in the diaspora.
It was edited until 1995, for 34 consecutive years, by
Professor Dr. Ferenc Somogyi, and since then by Lél F.
Somogyi.
A large number of
photos are also included in books published in at least the last
decade. Typically, it has been in the range of 288 to 320 pages in a
fine red bound edition with gold imprint. Recent editions vary from
this while maintaining a characteristic format and look.
Krónika
Online – The Continuing Chronicles of the Hungarian Congress
The Krónika volumes
have previously only been available in printed book format. Starting
in 2011, the complete contents of the Krónika - The Chronicles of
the Hungarian Congress from prior years will be made available
online, starting with the content of the most recent volumes, then
working back to the earliest volumes.
Additionally,
select articles and materials not published in book format will be
made available exclusively online. The intention is to make
available a greater range of valuable content online where the
material is accessible to a world-wide audience, unconstrained by
the costs and logistics of physical book publishing.

Stephen Spinder Fine Art Photography Stephen Spinder is an American professional photographer, artist, dancer, originally from Rochester, NY. He graduated from SUNY Oswego in upstate New York and continued his formal education at Rochester Institute of Technology. He first visited Hungary in 1991, fell in love with the people and the culture in Transylvania, and has been photographing there ever since. His images, and over a decade of experiences, have now been collected in two beautifully publications - Budapest Through My Lens, a Solitary Perspective, and Tíz estendő Erdélyben/Ten Years In Transylvania. Both are exquisite hardcover albums. He is renown for his sensitive images of a Hungarian folk culture that still survives in Hungarian speaking Transylvania (Romania). Hungarian Cultural Garden - A Garden of Peace and Culture It was 70 years ago, in 1938, that the Hungarian Cultural Garden was officially and formally dedicated as one of the largest cultural gardens in the Cleveland Cultural Gardens. The Hungarian community held rededication ceremonies for the Hungarian Cultural Garden on August 24, 2008. Efforts are continuing to renovate the garden and restore it to its original grandeur.
